Jake Gyllenhaal Shaves His Head BALD For A New Film
Woo!! I’ve got some new casting news for the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games to pass along. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Caprica actress Paula Malcomson has been cast as Katniss and Prim Everdeen‘s mother. In the trilogy of books, the mom’s name is never mentioned … she is only referred to as mom or mother … but, first name or not, Malcomson will play her in the film.
Katniss and Prim’s mother has been cast in Lionsgate’s Hunger Games movie adaptation. Paula Malcomson, who recently starred in Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica, has landed the role, joining Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Willow Shields (Prim) as her daughters. In the books, Katniss and Prim’s mother is grieving after her husband’s death, living in fear that her daughters will participate in the deadly Hunger Games … Malcomson, who has also appeared in HBO’s Deadwood and FX’s Sons of Anarchy, is repped by UTA and Seven Summits. The film is in theaters March 23, 2012.
You know, it never EVER occurred to me that Katniss and Prim‘s mom never had a name in any of the books. I just recently finished the final book in the trilogy and it never dawned on me — not once — that she is never referred to by anything other than mom or mother. Clearly, the fact that she does not have a name is intentional … hopefully that convention will be preserved in the film version as well. Unless author Suzanne Collins decides to give her a name for the film, I hope she will only be referred to as mom or mother. To be honest, I don’t know any of Paula Malcomson‘s work but she really does look the part in these promo photos from Caprica. The pale color and cold blue eyes seem very fitting for the role of Katniss‘s emotionally fragile mother. I have no cause for complaint with this casting. So far, so good … I am really on board with pretty much all the Hunger Games casting thus far.

We're not really sure this is the best choice for the show right before the season finale!
Not that we have anything against Ed Helms and Paul Simon, we just think that it won't nearly have to final powerful draw to be wedged in between Tina Fey with Ellie Goulding and the powerhouse hosts Justin Timberlake [...]

Flavor Flav Being Sued For A Buck, Buck Over Chicken Restaurant
This was such a bad idea - a bad idea right from the very start. He's sorely regretting getting involved now!

This morning, al-Qaida took to militant websites to confirm to their followers that Osama Bin Laden is dead and in fact died at the hands of courageous Americans on Sunday.
Well, courageous to us. As you can imagine, they don't think too highly of us right now.
The statement released by Osama's duputies wished their "holy" leader be blessed by God and vowed retaliation on America for his death. Their statement reads:
"The blood of the holy warrior sheik, Osama bin Laden, God bless him, is too precious to us and to all Muslims to go in vain. We will remain, God willing, a curse chasing the Americans and their agents, following them outside and inside their countries.
Soon, God willing, their happiness will turn to sadness, their blood will be mingled with their tears."
Uh-huh. That's what you think. In the words of Hillary Clinton, "You cannot defeat us." We're already putting the kibosh on one of your attacks right now!
Turns out, shortly after the al-Qaida released their confirmation, materials obtained by the Navy SEALs who killed the al-Qaida leader revealed that the terrorists were planning on derailing an American train on the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. One idea outlined in handwritten notes, presumed to be from February 2010, was to "tamper with an unspecified U.S. rail track so that a train would fall off the track at a valley or a bridge."
Consider that plan DONEZO!
This is the beginning of the end. Consider your days numbered!!!

Last night David and I made our way to the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway to see the new musical Catch Me If You Can. Altho I had not seen the film, I was very anxious to see this show because one of my favorite Broadway actresses, Kerry Butler, stars in the show. I was only marginally familiar with the story so I hoped that seeing it cold would be entertaining. For the most part, I thought the show was OK … but, unfortch, it wasn’t nearly as exciting or upbeat as I was hoping.
The staging, set design, costumes and overall look of the show are really it’s strongest assets. You can tell that a lot of thought about the time period went into the staging and production of the show. The overriding problem for me was the story … the long, drawn out … not very exciting story. You’d think that a show with an exciting title like Catch Me If You Can would be upbeat, sexy and feature lots of action and showy dance numbers. Sadly, that is not the case. Most of the story in Act I was just rattled off in dialogue … there weren’t too many catchy numbers to sing along to. Of the songs in the show, I couldn’t even remember any of them after the show was over … well, except for one song. Kerry Butler belts out a showstopping number (Fly, Fly Away) at the very end of the show that is THE best song of the show. I was very surprised, tho, that Kerry isn’t featured AT ALL in the entire first Act … and she is billed as the female lead. Thankfully, Act II picked up considerably and manages to save the show from being a total snooze but as a whole … the show only ends up “OK”. That being said, I’m very glad I got to see the show and did enjoy myself, for the most part. I will say that Catch Me If You Can isn’t a show that I would ever feel the need to see again and it’s not a show that I would call a Must See. Lead actor Aaron Tveit is fine in his role as Frank Abagnale, Jr. but for me the real star of the show is Norbert Leo Butz who plays FBI agent Carl Hanratty. He was the best actor/character in the show. David and I had fun but we’ve seen better shows. If you’re a fan of the Catch Me If You Can story, this show might be for you … otherwise, you may be a bit disappointed by the show’s lack of real excitement.
